Mild Cognitive Impairment Nursing Care Plan
Mild cognitive impairment, MCI, is a condition where there are minor problems with cognition, or mental abilities such as memory or thinking. In MCI these difficulties are worse than would normally be expected for a healthy person of the same age.
However, the symptoms are not severe enough to interfere significantly with daily life, and so are not defined as dementia. A person with MCI has mild problems with, memory, or reasoning, planning or problem-solving, or attention, being easily distracted, or taking much longer to find the right word for something, or visual depth, struggling to judge distances or navigate stairs.
The care plan sets out a clear explanation of the resident’s issue, and will quickly guide the nurse or carer through the process of preparing a comprehensive, sensitive, individual person centred Care Plan.
Mild Cognitive Impairment Care Plan Features:
Identifies the symptoms and issues experienced
Details a comprehensive plan of care
